Dr. Hyland takes the time to thoroughly listen to your story, not just the symptoms you are presenting with, but the full picture of who you are as a whole person — mind, body, and spirit, as well as your goals for treatment.
From there, Dr. Hyland conducts a physical evaluation to understand where the body's natural health is being obstructed.
Treatment is hands-on and gentle. You may be asked to participate at times through breath, or gentle muscle activation such as pushing or pulling against resistance. Dr. Hyland works to balance and release tissues that may be holding tension or restriction, creating the conditions for the body's own healing intelligence to move more freely. Her approach is suitable for all ages, from newborns to elders, and for virtually any medical concern.
Please allow 90–120 minutes for your first visit, and 45–60 minutes for follow-up appointments.

Every body responds differently to treatment. Because osteopathic care works by facilitating the body's own healing intelligence, removing the roadblocks, so to speak. the real work happens after you leave the office.
In the days following treatment, you may feel soreness similar to an intense workout, typically resolving within 48 hours. You may feel fatigued — rest is encouraged, as your body is in an active healing phase. Others feel lighter immediately, with a greater sense of ease and freedom of movement. And sometimes, you may not notice much at all right away, which is also completely normal. The most significant benefits are often felt several days after treatment, as the body continues to integrate and heal.
To support your body after treatment, drink plenty of water — coconut water is especially helpful for reducing next-day soreness. Avoid alcohol, intense exercise, and strenuous activity for 24 hours. Rest is encouraged, and an Epsom salt bath can support muscle relaxation and recovery. Occasionally, physical tissue release can stir up emotions — this is a natural part of the healing process. If soreness persists beyond 3 days, please contact the office.
-
Treatment frequency varies greatly with each patient and condition. Acute issues may resolve in just a few sessions, while chronic or complex conditions — where the body has been carrying patterns of restriction for years — often benefit from ongoing support over a longer period of time.
After your first visit, Dr. Hyland will recommend a follow-up within 7–10 days to reassess how your body has responded. From there, a personalized treatment plan will be discussed, including recommended frequency and spacing. based on what your body is showing at each visit.
Many patients also choose to continue with periodic maintenance visits to support overall wellness, promote longevity, address new injuries, or simply stay well through the inevitable changes and demands of life.
If you have questions about what to expect for your specific condition, please don't hesitate to reach out.
